I had planned out a fun cool video to have on the day I turned 25. But with my luck my iMovie decided to not work and the next thing I knew it was my birthday and all I wanted to do was get out of Alabama. I have been to Nashville one time before awhile ago and I heard it calling my name. So on my actual birthday my two friends and I got in my car and road tripped it to Nashville. We didn’t have a big plan but I knew I wanted to walk around 12th Street and eat a donut from Five Daughters Bakery. The trip was a fun one and I walked away with two new fun pieces and some fun new shops I need to hit up every time I go to Nashville. I was lucky enough to have my bestie Kizzie there and as a gift she took some photos for me. I have had a rough few weeks and when I saw the photos I was reminded of the fun we had.
Like I said one of the first stops in Nashville was the amazingly sweet Five Daughters Bakery but I want to mention our first stop of the birth-day was Chickfila and Red Cat in Bham because nothing can compare to Red Cat even if all I get is hot coco. If you didn’t know already I am not a coffee, weird I know. t have a sweet spot for good hot chocolate and some good donuts. So of course we started at Red Cat and then once we made it to 12th South, I had to eat some yummy donuts. Plus the little house they put the bakery in is precious. Plus they love white matched with bright colors. So if you love sweets as much as I do you must stop and get some donuts from Five Daughters Bakery.
We of course then walked around 12th South and walked into Kizzie’s favorite store White’s Mercantile where I fell head over heels for some many pieces in the store. From the hats to the candles the store was amazing. I did end up going back and snatcging up this emerald green clutch from the brand Baggu which I already had a brown clutch from and I love the simplicity of it. After that store we walked around talked about the differences between hipsters which was new to me since I am no where close to a hipster. Then we popped into Draper James which screamed color and classic and I was just excited to be in Reese’s store since I love her so much! I took it all in. We well I then wanted a very non creative photo in front of another I believe in Nashville sign but the beauty of my bestie Kizzie is she made it look great.
After walking up and down 12th South it was time for some food. Thank goodness for Kirby because she found The Pharmacy Burger Parlor and Beer Garden and it was the best food I had in a very long time. The atmosphere was amazing! Though we came at a quitter time it was one of those food spots you kinda wanted to be there when it was busy. You could feel that the atmosphere would only get better. We then jumped back in the car drove around got a picture with the #whatliftsyou wings and then made our way back to 12th South. Lastly we walked around a small farmers market the other side of 12th we didn’t hit earlier got some sweets and before we called it a night jumped into a boutique called Serendipity. Serendipity is filled with a mixture of things but my favorite part was the unique accessories and jewelry oh and don’t forget the local pieces of Nashville they sold! I love when a store showcases local talent.
Nashville is definitely a place I can keep going back too there were a great number of places we didn’t go to that I would love to go back to. Like the new store Ceri Hoover, Milk and Honey when it opens, a bunch more stores, Momma Nik’s Cheesecake, I would love to try more food places, and any recommendations my fellow Nashville friends would recommend. I also need to come up and meet some of my blogger friends! I know it would be a lot of fun! I always find myself keeping it very relaxed and kinda unplanned when we go to Nashville which is probably why we end up driving around but I kinda like it that way.
This go around I wanted to keep it simple in my outfit choice, I normally try to look fabulous but maybe it was the fact that I was now 25 or the fact that I feel more comfortable being myself. I went super comfy but still a little bit of dress up if you ask some people. One of my favorite places to shop for shoes these days is Nordstrom Rack which is wear I scored these oxford like shoes and this light sweatshirt which just screamed me. I then of course paired it with my long vest, exaggerated cat eye sunnies, and my GiGi New York cross body. Very me and very comfy for the road trip.
I am going to leave this blog here and say thank you to Kizzie and Kirby for going with me. Thank you to Kizzie for snapping these photos. And of course thank you for all the birthday wishes. I can’t believe I have been 25 for 2 weeks now. I still feel like the same old me but with another year behind her.
Charlotte: Let’s never come here again because it would never be as much fun.
